Life Attack: 7 Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Life
The next time you sit down to watch one of your favorite movies, Google the year it came out. You might be surprised to see that it may be 10, 15 or even 20 years old! Sometimes, it takes doing something like that to remind you just how fast time flies! Sometimes, it’s the reality check that you need to get off of the couch and really start living your life!
If you know that you’re not making the most of out of your life (energy or time) as you should, you have the power to change things right at this very moment. It’s not as hard as you think either. All you need to do is apply the following tips and watch how much more passionate you’ll be about living!
1. Meditate every morning
Some people avoid meditating because they think it’s tied to some type of religion. But no matter what your faith may or may not be, it’s super beneficial to your health. Meditation reduces stress, increases optimism, improves your memory and creativity and can help you to rest better at night. You can learn how to mediate by taking a yoga class or you can wake up each morning, sit on your floor in silence and just be still for 15 minutes. It’s a little thing that can totally change your life and how you process the rest of your day. A calm mind is a rational one.
2. Do an exercise you love
The more you exercise, the better you’ll feel. It’s proven. Exercise helps you to become more energetic, it kicks in endorphins that put you in a good mood and it helps to keep you fit and toned. No one said that means you have to go to a gym. Find something that you like to do whether it’s hiking, bike riding, swimming or something else. Just make sure it gets your body going. That’s the key.
3. Set up a travel budget
Traveling makes you a better person. It exposes you to new people, other cultures and different ways of seeing life. This is especially true if you take international trips. Yes, they can be a little on the expensive side, but don’t look at them as just vacations. Choose to see them as an investment into improving the quality of your life.
4. Make time for your purpose
A lot of people are miserable for one reason, and one reason only. They don’t know what they were put on this earth to do. Your purpose isn’t about your job or what you do to make ends meet. If you’re not in purpose, in many ways, you’re basically “dead man walking”.
5. Keep electronics to a minimum
Last year, an article stated that many teenagers spend as much as 27 hours a week online. Since a lot of us work for a living on our computers, we can easily triple that! Computers and smartphones are necessary in this day and time. But be careful about obsessing. Sitting for hours on end can make you lethargic. Staring at a screen non-stop can strain your eyes. And there is such a thing as “information overload”. If you work for someone else, eat lunch outside without your phone. If you work for yourself, set firm hours so that you can rest. And please keep electronics out of your bedroom so that you can get a good night’s rest. Electronics are here to make life easier. They’re not supposed to be your entire life, though.
6. Make goals and reevaluate them every three months
How are you going to get anywhere you want to be in life without goals? Wanna get out of debt? You need to set a goal. Wanna by a house? You need to set a goal. Wanna do some of the things that we already talked about in this post? You need to set a goal. The key to reaching goals is to set short and long-term ones. Then revisit them every three months or so to see how things are progressing. A goal-oriented person is someone who accomplishes things in life. They are on their way to doing BIG things!
7. Take relationship inventory
The people you hang around influence you more than you know. If they lack ambition, are negative and don’t provide you with the emotional support that you need, it’s going to show in how you see things around you—and even yourself. There’s nothing wrong with stepping back and looking at quality of your relationships and then making some adjustments. You need people who will make you a better person. Good relationships definitely will get you on the path to getting the most out of your life!
