10 year school reunion? Family event? Wedding? There are oodles of reasons a person might want to drop weight quickly. Let’s just say you’ve got a big work function coming up and you want to look stellar… and a bit thinner. In your head you know  the reality--- losing weight fast with gimmicks and fad diets is no bueno all the way around—but even so, you are determined to shed a few pounds. How can you do that safely?  Skip the fads but pay attention to the details!  Here are a few quick tips to keep in min. 

1) Find the empty calories and cut em’ out.
Are you drinking non-diet soda? Munching on high in fat snacks? Slathering mayo on a sandwich without thinking twice? For all intents and purposes, these are totally empty calories that you don’t NEED to function. Find em’ and cut em’ out of your diet.

2) Stop drinking, Boozy McBoozerson

You want to eat your calories, not drink them. Alcohol might be delicious and fun but it’s also high in calories. Cut out the cocktails till after your event!

3) Eat your fruits and veggies.
Fruits and veggies are nutritional powerhouses and will help keep you feeling full so it will be easier for you to portion control during meals.

4) Drink water. And then drink more. And then drink more. 
Hydrating with H20 is maybe the single best thing you can do for yourself. And don’t just stop at the 8 glasses normally recommended. Divide your weight in half; the number you have equals the ounces of water you should be drinking every day. 

5) Eat smaller portion but DON’T SKIP MEALS! 
This one is a given. But… really do it. Keep protein portions to the size of your fist. Scoop out your rice and pasta. Don’t feel the need to finish what’s on your plate and take home leftovers when you can! That being said, don’t starve, don’t fast. In essence, this will freak your body out and cause it to shut down.

6) Cut out the white carbs like bread and sugar. 

Removing white grain products from your diet will instantly make an impact in slimming you down! Simple carbs are digested quickly yet leave you hungry. In other words, skip em’. 

Whatever you do, remember to stay safe. No fad diet is worth endangering yourself! (Excuse our After School Special-style message here...) Watch the calories. Drink your water. Pay attention to portions and cut those carbs!
