It's winter, and either you've got snow coming down around you or there isn't a flake in sight. Either way, you might be itching to hit the slopes.
Turns out lift tickets are expensive, your gear is falling apart, and the local mountain has about as many thrills as a gentle summer meadow. How are you going to experience the great winter outdoors?

The recently released game for Xbox One, PS4 or PC lets you get deep into winter sports as you head to a beautifully rendered version of the Alps.
With miles and miles of fresh mountain powder as far as the eye can see, "Steep" immediately throws you into a fully explorable winter wonderland.
Yep, those insane videos where you see people jump out of a helicopter and barrel down a mountain, narrowly missing cliffs, are now something you can recreate in stunning detail. Don't forget to hold your breath.
The game provides plenty of challenges all over the mountain, including checkpoints, races, Big Air competitions, and even a "Bone Collector" mode where your aim is to wreck as hard as you can. Not to mention that "Steep" loves GoPros, so you can re-watch all your insane antics in glorious first person.
But "Steep" is best used as a big winter playground, so point yourself at any major point in the mountain, and you're there. Tackle pretty much any activity you want in any order and take in the view.
And isn't standing on top of a windy peak, reveling at everything in front of you the ultimate winter escape? If you can't make it to the real thing, this might just be the next best thing.
