This Gangsta Goldilocks was in such desperate need for a snack and a nap that he stole from the kids!

A little after 11:00 p.m. on a quiet Monday evening in New Orleans, a security camera caught a man creeping into Clara's Little Lambs Preschool Academy by sliding through an unlocked window. He tip-toed around the cribs and a stack of children-sized chairs and immediately got down to business.

Police say the burglar made himself at home as he snooped through each room seeing what he could get. He treated himself to the food and drinks that the staff left in the break room by making a sandwich, eating some chips, and keeping himself healthy with some water, according to Sonjia Joseph the pre-school's owner and director. That "itis" must have hit him hard because he then decided he needed to take a nap. He wandered into one of the classrooms and made himself a bed, grabbed a blanket, and snoozed off for a few hours.

Making sure that he wasn't caught by any of the morning staff, the sleepy thief quickly made his way out of the preschool by slinking out the same window that gave him the initial access at 6:45 in the morning.

The break-in came as a surprise to Brandye Delarge, a mother of one of Clara's Preschool students, who said she was "shocked" to learn about the school break-in while watching the news. After complaining, Delarge said the school told her they would make an effort to "do better."

Joseph told WDSU News that the man didn't leave empty-handed, leaving the school with two trash bags full of goodies, as seen on surveillance footage.

“He took the food with him, when he left, in his bag,” she said. “We could see very clearly on the camera he had toilet paper. He had taken the extra food out of the fridge, he had had taken water and he had jumped out of the window with all that in his hand.”

Algiers authorities think that the burglar may be a local homeless man and are seeking any information from the community to help identify him. Joseph is just happy that there were no children present during the break-in.
