Video Of A Man Savagely Beating His Pregnant Girlfriend Until Her Head Split Open Is Haunting

Last year, a man was caught on camera viciously beating his then-pregnant girlfriend in a convenience store, even cracking the girl’s head open! And now, he’s getting exactly what he deserves—time behind bars.

Back in June 2016, Jamar Bernard Woody attacked his girlfriend, Shatory Irving, who was three months pregnant at the time. The girl was already on crutches with a broken ankle, and some kind of argument broke out between the two while at the front of the store. Then Jamar went OFF on Shatory, punching and beating her to the floor, before the shop owner was able to force him off of her and out of the store. 

Turns out that Jamar beat Shatory so badly that her skull was exposed by an inch-long split in her forehead. Her baby ended up being born premature last year, but was reported to be healthy.

Jamar ended up getting arrested, and the case was brought to trial. His defense attorney and other witnesses in his family revealed that, while he had a long rap sheet already, Jamar suffered from mental issues over the years and never received proper treatment. Shatory, surprisingly, stood by this dude, and even gave testimony on his behalf! She admitted that they both had fault in the ups and downs of their wild relationship, with Shatory even violating a protective order Jamar had filed and busting windows in the middle of an argument!

However, this video was the nail in Jamar’s coffin. The jury on the trial recommended that he go to jail for eight years, and presiding Judge Chris Clemons was prone to agree. The judge did, however, say he would include an order for psychiatric treatment as a part of the sentence. “You’ve got to do something to deal with all that anger that built up with you and Shatory,” Judge Clemens told Jamar, giving him two years of post-release supervision as well.

While mental health is a big issue in this country and needs to be addressed—especially in the African American community—it doesn’t excuse what Jamar did. Hopefully, he gets the help he needs, but he needs to face the consequences behind putting his hands on Shatory the way he did. Not only did he endanger her life, he also endangered the life of their child. Thankfully, they’re both okay, but it could’ve been even worse.
