The former Colorado inmate who got in a prison brawl with Jared Fogle said the ex-Subway pitchman deserved to be attacked because his fellow pedophiles worship the ground he walks on.

Convicted felon Steve Nigg, 61, told the NY Daily News that he wanted to send Fogle a message with the January 2016 beating.

In a new letter obtained by TMZ, Nigg wrote that other child molesters have made a "hero" out of Fogle, who's currently serving 15-years and eight months for child pornography and crossing state lines to pay for sex with minors.

"You would not believe how arrogant Jared was," Nigg said. "He hired bodyguards and the other child molesters looked at him as if he was a god."

Nigg's nephew, Jimmy Nigg Jr., spoke proudly of his uncle in an interview with the Daily News last spring.

"Jared’s lucky he’s still alive. My uncle was in a position to kill him," Jimmy said. "A guy walks in with all this money and celebrity and instead of flying under the radar, he’s going into the yard, walking around with big guys, saying no one can mess with me, flashing his money around and that's what (my uncle) is pissed off about."

"(Steve) took justice into his own hands in this incident," Jimmy Nigg added.

After the attack, which left Fogle with a bloody nose, a swollen face, and scratches, Steve Nigg said he was moved to an Oklahoma prison about 700 miles away.

As punishment for the assault, Nigg also "lost good times (time off his sentence) and spent many months in the hole, plus the loss of commissary and email."

But was it worth it in the end?

"I have no regrets," Nigg wrote.
