Fake Doc! Hospital Sued By 100+ Women After Man Posed As OB/GYN For Years

A Maryland hospital is being sued by more than 100 patients for allowing a man to pose as an OB/GYN! This dude was literally delivering  babies and treating women for years!

Apparently, Dr. Akoda, aka Oluwafemi Charles Igberase, was busted for lying about his identity and medical certifications in order for him to advance his career, reported The Washington Post. He had also been forging papers and medical school tests since the early 90s.

His lies finally caught up with him in 2016, when he was indicted on federal authorities on charges of fraud.

But when his former patients heard the news that their trusting doc wasn't who he said he was, they lashed out! And many of them say the hospital is to blame.

“This makes me even scared to go to the hospital,” an anonymous former patient of Igberase told the Post

“He could have put my son’s life and my life in danger.”

WORD.

However, the Prince George’s County hospital isn't trying to own up for hiring Igberase. Instead, they are blaming the staffing agency for not vetting him properly.

“We are exploring many aspects of this case, researching records, and evaluating processes and procedures upon which we rely to validate information,” the Prince George’s Hospital Center said in a statement to the Post

“Several highly reliable agencies validated his credentials including the states in which he held medical licenses.”

The hospital's lawyers also argue that the name of the man Igberase used was actually a doctor and was licensed to practice medicine in the state of Maryland. He just wasn't who he said he was.

“Whether the patients knew him as ‘Akoda’ or ‘Igberase,’ both names denote the exact same person, and that person was a licensed physician who was experienced and competent in the practice of obstetrics and gynecology,” the lawyers wrote.

HUH???

Not surprisingly, his patients are not trying to hear that nonsense.

“This is something where you’re dealing with lives, you’re dealing with babies, you’re dealing with personal areas,” one of the patients in the lawsuit told the Post.

She added, “I don’t know who is this man that touched me in a private area and delivered my child.”

Listen...that man could have killed someone pretending to be a doctor! We hope these patients get every last dime they are asking for!
