Meet The Couples Who Quit Their Jobs To Travel Around The World

Meet The Couples Who Quit Their Jobs To Travel Around The World
Stefan Dahlqvist

More and more couples are deciding to replace their 9-5 life with something more adventurous - traveling! It might sound crazy, but who are we to judge? Good Housekeeping talked to a few loving pairs who lived out of suitcases probably longer than some of us have had our current jobs. And you know what? Those couples seem as happy as can be. So, ladies - maybe the key to a good relationship is quitting your day job and traveling with your hubby!

Chanel and Stevo were both working in advertising, back in 2015, when they decided to leave South Africa to see what else the world had to offer. If you hadn't noticed, that was about two years ago! This pair had a lot in the bank before they bought their tickets and took off. Chanel said they had about $30 thousand after saving, and selling most of their belongings. As you know, money doesn't last forever. They still had to work! Using Workaway, a specialized staffing company, they did everything from clean dog poop to film weddings. Now, they do videography and photography for a living - their adventure turned into a whole new career!

Eliana and Travis did things a little differently before setting out a year ago from D.C. Shewas an office manager and he was a freelance photographer. They saved a little less than $10 thousand before heading to Southeast Asia on a  couple of one-way tickets. The pair started to worry about their  funds about five months into their adventure. Luckily, they left a  little over $1 thousand back home with Travis' parents as an emergency fund. So, they were able to return to D.C. stress free.

The couple to really be jealous of, though, are Taylor and Stephanie. They hightailed it out of Texas, in the fall of 2014, and have been to New Zealand, Spain, Portugal, Jamaica - the list goes on and on!

All of these couples saved money before embarking on  their adventures. And even though they were all met with financial challenges, there seems to be a shared consensus - the experiences they  had were priceless.

Is all this talk making you want to book a trip, too?

Banff National Park

Chanel caught her man at the edge of this waterfront in Canada and noted it practically blew them away with how beautiful it was there. We agree!

Khao Chi Chan

Travis and Eliana didn’t let a flat tire stop them from making the most of their trip to the top of Buddha Mountain.

The Leaning Tower

Steph and Tay were all over those European countries, but stopped for a quick pick at one of the most famous buildings around. Can you believe they didn’t do the signature “pretend you’re pushing it down?!”

San Francisco

Possibly the most fabulous part of all San Francisco are their Full House homes. Agree?

Cameron Valley

Have you ever seen so much green? Travis was practically swimming in it in those Malaysian fields.

Burano, Italy

No, we’re not jealous of the canals in the background. Okay, we are. We most definitely are. Why aren’t our bags packed yet?

Zanzibar

Okay, Lion King left out some important factors about Africa because nowhere in that damn movie was a paradise like this!

Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi

We are Googling where this is and heading there as soon as possible.

Texas

Who knew Texas has places like this to enjoy?! Sorry Austin, you just got the boot as the coolest place in that state.

Hallstatt, Austria

Can we all agree this place doesn’t even look real? Also, are any of these couples looking for another travel partner?
