Melania Trump Accepts $2.9M In Damages & An Apology From Daily Mail
Fake news has some serious consequences.
The Daily Mail just learned that the hard way. After posting unverified claims about First Lady Melania Trump's work as a model, they will now pay significant damages to settle a defamation lawsuit.
The Daily Mail's original statement suggested that the former model provided services beyond modeling, like escorting. However, considering their claims were unverified, they ended up with two lawsuits in their hands.
The London-based publication agreed to paid Mrs. Trump $2.9 million in damages and issue a public apology.
"We accept that these allegations about Mrs Trump are not true and we retract and withdraw them. We apologize to Mrs Trump for any distress that our publication caused her. To settle Mrs Trump's two lawsuits against us, we have agreed to pay her damages and costs," said the Daily Mail.
Melania isn't messing around when it comes to these fake claims. She also sued a Maryland blogger, Webster Tarpley, who cited the Daily Mail.
Long story short: you can say what you want about her husband, but Melania wants you to keep her name out of your mouth!
In other news, we'll be over here waiting for Fox News to issue Michelle Obama an apology for 8 years of false, racist remarks.
