Monique the Sailing Chicken is Living the Life We All Would Love
Most of us would jump at the chance to sail around the world. One chicken,in particular, is living the dream of seeing exotic places that any person (or animal) would love to see. Yes, a chicken and her name is Monique.
French native Guirec Soudé left home at 18 to sail around the globe. On a stop in the Canary Islands he met his travel companion—an attractive red hen named Monique. Well, he initially brought her along hoping she’d provide fresh eggs on his voyage, but it turn into so much more.
The Queen of the Coop, or Rather, Sailboat.
It seems like this particular chicken took to sailing life just fine. Soudé was told that chickens would never lay eggs while at sea. Nonetheless, this chicken turned out to be a pretty adventurous travel companion.
Co-Captain
Co-captaining a sailboat isn't so hard especially with a good-looking Captain to look up to!
Playtime
Chillin' on a surfboard is easy for a chicken.
Not so thrilled with this inflatable flamingo.
Again with an inflatable flamingo! There's only room for one bird on this adventure.
How about a game of hide and seek?
Chicken that can Fish!
Who knew that chickens like fish?
This was the big one that got away!
Earning Her Keep
Monique has many talents, and apparently being a mechanic is one of them.
Cold Weather Chicken
Cold doesn't bother a chicken, especially with a fashionable sweater to wear.
How many chickens get to hang out on an iceberg?
Or sled in the Arctic?
Relaxing
All this adventuring can take it all out of a girl. Getting some rest is a necessity to keep this chicken looking her best. Luckily, she's not picky, even a pile a ropes makes a good nest to snooze on.
When she's really tired, she'll snooze anywhere.
Good thing her dad made her a cozy "coop" to roost in when she feels like it.
The Adventure of a Lifetime
How long will this adventure continue? Who knows! Until then, as long as Monique is with her best bud, let the fun continue.
We can all live vicariously through Monique's adventures.
It turns out chickens can lay eggs while at sea.
