Mom Frantically Reports Son Missing Not Knowing He Was Working To Buy Her Xmas Gifts
Now this is a young Black man who loves his Mama!
An Oklahoma teen dipped out of his house without his mom knowing to do his best to raise money to get her a Christmas gift. See, the family just moved and the mama used all of their money for the security deposit on their apartment.
"What little Christmas money we had you know to pay my security deposit for here," Sophia Reed told KFOR News.
But when Sophia noticed that her son Diauris was gone, she got so worried that she called the police. Apparently, it wasn't his nature to leave and not check in first. Little did Sophia know that her son was collecting cans so he could trade them in for money so his Mama could have something nice for the holiday.
"I just wanted to do something for my mama," Diauris said.
The rest of his siblings knew what was going on, but didn't want to say anything.
"I was afraid he was going to get in trouble," Sophia's daughter, Deneisha, said about Diauris.
"I just didn't want to say anything because it would blow the whole thing," she added.
The police came to the house and were still there when Diarus got home. So the 13-year-old not wanting to get in trouble, shared with them what he was up to.
This got Officer Roland Russell, a policeman at the scene, inspired to invite other officers over to meet the family, too.
After meeting the family in need, the police got together and raised a whopping $800 for the Reeds. In addition, they bought them Christmas and housewarming gifts.
Naturally, given the relationship that Black folks traditionally have with the police, the two were shocked authorities could be this concerned about Black lives.
"Most of the time when I see the police, it's like, bad stuff," Diauris told KFOR. "Up here I guess it's changed. Good."
"They caught us at the right time and we are so grateful," Sophia added.
With so many negative stories out there about young Black men, it's refreshing to see the selflessness and love Diarus has for his family.
We hope they have a great holiday!
