Could We Soon Be Netflix And Chilling Without The Internet?
Hallelujah! Someone went and answered prayers I'm not sure we were sending but who cares, because Netflix may soon be available without an internet connection. You know what that means, soon these chill sessions could happen anywhere, at anytime...
So Netflix is still being a little on the shy side when it comes to talking about the possibility of binge watching on the go. Like a man caught within a web of lies trying to say one step ahead while saying very little, Netflix said, "While our focus remains on delivering a great streaming experience, we are always exploring ways to make the service better," adding, "We don't have anything to add at this time." Uh huh, so they probably don't want to go causing a commotion but at the same time - why not just give us a yes or no on the matter? Being able to watch Netflix without the internet would be life changing, or it would just be like going back to the days when we traveled with our portable DVD players. Either way, we want it.
According to a report at Lightreading the streaming company is working on bringing its millions of users a "download-to-go option." Meaning that we could just put that right on our devices, pack up and head out. So we'd no longer have to sit at home and chill. We could take the show on the road. Even more so, imagine layovers with this! No more buying expensive WiFi from the airport or relying on their spotty "free service." We'd be able to just download all the Orange is the New Black's our hearts desired and binge away as we waited for our connecting flights. Dreams, they can come true ya'll.
That's the thing though, because this is kind of up in the air and no one is really saying much, some are speculating that we won't be able to download whatever we want. Instead some are guessing that it may just be original content. This of course limits us down quite a bit but with the way things are going at Netflix, they may have more options than basic cable in the coming years.
So while Netflix isn't saying yes or no right now when it comes to the "download-to-go" idea, we can all sit and wait like we do for their addicting series to begin.
