Coming to America Gone Wrong--'Nigerian Prince' Busted for Scamming $1 Million Via Email

Y'all remember the movie 'Coming To America' and how Prince Akeem  tries to hide the fact that he's royally rich from his love interest, Lisa? Well Michael Neu, 67 must have been in the bathroom the entire movie because he definitely got it wrong. In fact, he reversed the entire plot. 

For starters, he's white and instead of trying to appear poor like Akeem in the movie, according to USA Today, ya man out here scamming people for their hard earned coins! 

Check this out, these type of scams rake in $1 million annually according to a statement released by Slidell police. So how did Neu go about pulling off his 'Nigerian Prince' email scam? He would send out emails claiming the recipient is the beneficiary in a Nigerian Prince's will. Throughout the email conversation, Neu would gather enough personal information to steal their money and commit identity fraud. 

Slidell police released this statement "Never give out personal information over the phone, through e-mail, cash checks for other individuals, or wire large amounts of money to someone you don’t know. 99.9 percent of the time, it’s a scam.”
