Nike Debuts First Ever Plus Size Line And We're Loving It

Representation matters. If you don’t see yourself in something, how are you supposed to feel you belong in it? For the first time ever (seriously?!), Nike has launched a plus size line and it’s fabulous!

The first concern, when you work out, shouldn’t be what you’re wearing. But, many will tell you that when you are feeling fly in your workout gear, you have a better workout. It’s a mental thing and it's a feeling people in the plus size community may have felt they were missing out on! Why? Because one of the biggest athletic wear lines didn’t have anything they could really rock at the gym. Other than some sick Jordan's, of course.

That’s all changed though, Nike just announced they are ready to get with the program. They finally launched their first ever plus size line and we’re ecstatic. The line doesn’t try and hide what their potential curvy wearers are working with, it actually enhances and looks damn good!

Stylish and chic, a spokesperson from the brand said of their new pieces, “Nike recognizes that women are stronger, bolder and more outspoken than ever. In today's world, sport is no longer something that she does, it's who she is. The days where we have to add 'female' before 'athlete' are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes' diversity, from ethnicity to body shape.”

With this new introduction, we can only hope more and more brands take note and get on board with this because inclusion in every facet of life should and needs to happen. With Nike’s new plus size line, gone are the days of our curvy sisters having to head to the gym in some faded gray sweats and an old college t-shirt.
