No-Gym-Necessary Workouts

One thing I've learned is that you can always get in a workout wherever you are. If you don't have time to take a trip to the gym or don't want to bother throwing your money at an expensive gym membership, you are not out of luck. If you're on vacation, a work trip, or at home, you can get an ample workout right in the comfort of your room without the use of a germ infested gym. I've put together some of my favorite at-home workouts to get that booty popping, those abs crunching, and the legs strong and lean.

Yoga is a great workout that you can do in the comfort of your own home. It's seriously relaxing so it can take you out of your hectic world and bring you down to earth and into a peaceful state of mind. If you have never tried it before, don't feel discouraged. There are plenty of videos online for all different levels that can guide you through each move. One of my favorites is Yoga with Adriene.

Jump Rope

If you're looking for some serious cardio without having to run it out on that treadmill at the gym, grab a jump rope and get jumping. It's a great calorie burner and will have your heart beating pretty quickly. If you had that candy bar that was calling your name at checkout, just 15-20 minutes of jumping rope can get rid of that guilt.

Squats will do wonders to your bum. It's amazing what one little move can do. Remember, you want to look good coming and going, so get squatting. Here's a great workout to follow from Shape that'll get you started.

I swear these are one of the most hated workouts there are, but it's completely worth it. Planks will target so many muscles in your body, especially your core. Luckily, there are numerous positions to do a plank in order to target certain areas of your body and test your balance. Health shows you twenty different ways to do this exercise.

Mountain Climbers

You don't need a fancy climbing machine from the gym to get into shape. Mountain climbers are essentially a running plank where you climb your way to workout death. Place yourself in a pushup position and bring your knees into your chest one at a time. Find instructions at 30 Day Fitness Challenge.

You don't have to join a class to get in a good pilates workout. There are plenty of videos online to follow that you can do on your own at home. Pilates is a great workout to improve your core strength, flexibility, posture, and balance. Here's a great 35 minute starter workout by Fitness Blender.

Donkey Kicks

Donkey Kicks are a great butt blaster and also engage the hamstrings. Here is a quick instructional video by LiveStrong to show you the basic steps. Do a few reps of these each evening before bed and you'll notice the results in a few weeks.
