OkCupid Banned White Supremacist Christopher Cantwell For Life & The World Is Thrilled!
Here's a story that will only make sense if you're alive in the Year of Our Lord 2017...
The popular online dating site OkCupid has permanently banned a man from its site after he was exposed as a white supremacist leader in a viral Vice documentary this week.
OkCupid told Gizmodo Thursday that the site banned Christopher Cantwell immediately after its support team was alerted by another dater about his profile, which included eight cringeworthy dating tips "for the ladies":
1. Unless you’re here for “casual sex” stop telling me you’re “sick of the games”
2. Your boundaries are complete bullsh*t
3. If you aren’t interested in sex, I’m not interested in you
4. If you think all men suck, this tells me you have a habit of choosing sh*tty guys
5. In a photo of you and a friend, I assume you are the ugly one
6. I’m here for you, not your ex boyfriend
7. I’m here for you, not your kids
8. If all I can see is your face – you’re a fat girl
Cantwell may have a little trouble putting those tips to use, considering he's now banned from OkCupid for LIFE.
“OkCupid has zero tolerance for racism," CEO Elie Seidma said in a statement. "We make a lot of decision every day that are tough. Banning Christopher Cantwell was not one of them.”
The site tweeted about its decision later that afternoon, saying there is “no room for hate in a place where you’re looking for love.”
OkCupid also encouraged users to contact its support team if it ever encounters “people involved in hate groups" on its site.
Cantwell made headlines earlier this week after he was prominently featured in Vice's short film about the deadly Neo-Nazi protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend.
In the documentary, Cantwell tells Vice correspondent Elle Reeve that one of his fellow white supremacists was "more than justified" in plowing a car through a crowd of anti-racist demonstrators Saturday, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer.
Canwell told Reeve that he attended the rally “to spread ideas, talk, in the hopes that somebody more capable will come along … somebody like Donald Trump who does not give his daughter to a Jew." (Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, are both Jewish.)
Canwell later goes on to describe his "ideal leader," saying it would be someone “a lot more racist than Donald Trump."
Later Saturday night, a video was posted on YouTube showing Cantwell choking back tears while describing his fears about being arrested for his participation in the rally.
"I'm armed. I do not want violence with you, alright?" Cantwell says in the clip, speaking to law enforcement. "I'm terrified. I'm afraid you're going to kill me I really am."
Yeah, we can't believe he's single, either. 🙄
