OMG 'My Super Sweet 16' Is Coming Back To MTV, But With A Twist!

Obama was months away from winning his first presidency when we last saw My Super Sweet 16. Yes, it’s been out of our lives almost a full decade but someone at the network has answered our prayers...sort of. While word has it the show will be back on our screens in due time, it’s not coming back the way we remember it exactly. With the twist in casting, we’re going to be open to even more spoiled teens as young as, well we’ll get to that.

In case you weren’t in the know back in the day, My Super Sweet 16 was the pinnacle of MTV’s reality game. Before we switched to watching 16-year-olds get pregnant, we were obsessed with their over the top parties and lavish celebrations. Each week we followed a new girl, or sometimes guy, as they planned their big bash. We saw everything from sending out invites (who remembers when that one girl had them swim in the freaking ocean to get one?!), getting their wardrobe, their breakdowns and of course the final event..which were always more extravagant than the last. They had everything from My Chemical Romance performing to wild animals in the house.

Most of the time, they were all 15 going on 16, because well, that was the name of the show but this time around MTV is using the term “sweet 16” lightly as they’re opening this up to teens as young as 13. They’re letting any kid with a big milestone take part this time around. Which means not only the ones heading towards 16, but also those turning into a teenager ala the 13-year-olds, and those throwing Quinceaneras or having a Debutante Ball.

While we’re a little on the fence about not everyone being 16, we’re still down to tune in because this show was never not the most entertaining time on TV. Plus, teens today are way different than those back when the show started. Social media was still in infancy, so we’re dying to see how that plays into the party planning...and all the drama that comes with it!
