OMG! The '90s Are Real Again In This Video Where "Friends" Explain Windows '95
Microsoft

Friends is having a huge resurgence, thanks to Netflix and it's giving us all those '90s throwback feels. But you won't see the episode where Rachel and Chandler explain the latest technology, Windows 95.

It's not because that's some silly episode idea I just made up. There is a real Friends computer video that uses our favorite characters to explain the intricacies of the confusing Microsoft technology.

Just in case you still think I'm making it up, here's the video proof:

Yep, that's Jennifer Anniston and Matthew Perry taking time out of their busy schedule as stars of the biggest TV show to film a tutorial on Windows.

The best part is that Rachel and Chandler are completely baffled by every single element of computers. It's a good reminder that just a little more than 20 years ago, computers were such a new and confusing wonder machine. Nowadays, we have a computer in our hand at all times and get pissed if we can't stream Netflix fast enough.

You'd figure this would be some five minute video explaining what icons are and how lame Internet Explorer will end up being, but no. The video is a full hour long. In the length of two Friends episodes they cover the fascinating facts of file names and how to delete things.

Seriously, this video is so much funnier than you think. Well, funny because it's bad, not actually funny. One, it's a real trip seeing Windows 95 again and how lame it looks now. Two, the video is full of "jokes". At one point, a blond haired Microsoft ninja comes in to talk about right clicking, then asks "Do you wanna get funky?" Believe me, it doesn't make any more sense in context.

This is a real thing that happens

There's also lines like:

"Let's make a shortcut."

"Oh no, there's no shortcuts in life. It's a long, long road."

"Not in Windows."

Oh, and don't forget Joystick Johnny.

Yeah, that's Joystick Johnny, the super video game wiz. We see them play a bunch of 3D Pinball, a new game that's just sad now.

Wow, so much has changed. It's admirable that they tried so hard to make this detailed, excruciatingly dull tutorial into something mildly amusing. But, they failed. Now, it's something that Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry probably can't believe they wasted their time on.

If you love Friends and want a real time capsule to the past you have to watch this insane video that reminds us that not everything was better in the '90s.
