Oprah Doesn't Regret Not Having Kids: 'I Wouldn't Have Been A Good Mom For Babies.'
For Oprah Winfrey, "having it all" has never meant having children.
Just last month, Oprah's choice to be childless came up in an interview with Good Housekeeping UK—and she (still) has zero regrets about eschewing motherhood.
"I didn’t want babies," Winfrey said. "I wouldn’t have been a good mom for babies. I don’t have the patience."
There is *one* type of baby that works for her, though: The four-legged kind.
"I have the patience for puppies, but that’s a quick stage," said Winfrey, who's currently got five "fur-children" of her own.
While the 63-year-old philanthropist, talk show host, actress/producer, media guru, and author doesn't have any biological sons or daughters, she said she loves the 172 girls in her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa as if they were her own flesh and blood.
"It is more rewarding than I would ever have imagined," Winfrey said of her experience running the school. "I was doing this to help them (the girls), but it has brought a light to my life that I can’t explain."
"When people were pressuring me to get married and have children, I knew I was not going to be a person that ever regretted not having them, because I feel like I am a mother to the world’s children," she added.
"Love knows no boundaries. It doesn’t matter if a child came from your womb or if you found that person at age two, 10, or 20. If the love is real, the caring is pure and it comes from a good space, it works." Can we get an "amen" to that?
Lady O is just out here living her best life on her terms—and we love her for it.
