Oprah For President? Oprah Says Maybe She Could Run In 2020

Just a few short years ago, if someone told you a person with absolutely no political experience could become the Leader of the Free World, you’d have laughed in their face.

Yet that’s our reality in 2017. Donald Trump, best known for inheriting money and hosting reality TV shows, is the President of the United States.

And while it’s been an absolute disaster so far—the Donald has the lowest approval ratings in history at this point in a first term—the situation has paved the way for other non-politicians to potentially seek election to the nation’s highest office.

Tell me: how President Winfrey sounds to you?

The mogul recently did an interview, and the topic of running for office came up. And like the rest of us, until a few months ago, she’d never taken the idea seriously.

“I never considered the question even a possibility,” said Oprah. “I just thought, ‘Oh.’ I thought, ‘Oh, gee, I don’t have the experience. I don’t know enough.’

"And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh.’”

It’s not the first time she’s discussed the possibility. In January, Jimmy Kimmel asked her the same thing, and her response was a strong, “Never!” But it looks like the tides are shifting, and maybe the wildly-popular TV personality could make a run at 2020.

That situation would fit nicely with Michael Moore’s suggestion for the Democratic party. The controversial director even mentioned Oprah by name immediately after Trump’s victory:

“Democrats would be better off if they ran Oprah or Tom Hanks. Why don’t we run beloved people? We have so many of them. The Republicans do this – they run Reagan and the Terminator and other people. Why don’t we run somebody that the American people love and are really drawn to, and that are smart and have good politics and all that?”

Maybe he’s got a point. Would you vote for Oprah?
