A couple in Spanish Fork, Utah, is facing felony charges for giving drugs to their newborn baby and endangering the lives of three others. Colby Glen Wilde, 29, and Lacey Dawn Christenson, 26, are battling their addictions, but have somehow seen fit to make it a family affair.

The discovery was made after Wilde and Christenson were taken into custody following an arrest at Walmart. Wilde stole some items off the shelf and attempted to return them for cash. When police arrived, he made a run for it but was apprehended by a sheriff's deputy in the parking lot.

Wilde was arrested and booked in the Utah County Jail for suspicion of DUI, possession of drugs and paraphernalia, and no car insurance. Police took Christenson in for an outstanding warrant. All four children were present so the oldest boy's father took three of the children. The baby was taken to the hospital because Wilde dropped her twice during his attempt to escape.

Police executed a search warrant on June 28 which revealed drug paraphernalia throughout the house and Suboxone pills. Christenson told authorities that Wilde crushed the pills up and gave them to the baby. He admitted that the first time he drugged the baby was on April 9, just hours after the baby was born, to mask symptoms of addiction.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon found the admission beyond disturbing. "It makes me sick to my stomach for a number of reasons," he said. "You've got an infant who cannot do anything for herself and the people who should be providing her nurture, and love, and care are the ones who are harming the child."

Wilde and Christenson are in custody on $10,000 cash-only bail. Sadly, the three youngest children have all tested positive for drugs. Hopefully now they will be placed with people who are capable of caring for them in a manner they deserve.
