It was the jewel heist heard round the world, and the man charged with solving it is finally speaking out.

Paris police chief Christian Sainte gave an interview to Vanity Fair about the Kim Kardashian jewel robbery, and in a nutshell, he has no doubts that the Paris PD will track down and capture the thieves.

For starters, Sainte wants there to be no confusion as to whether the crime actually happened: “…there is no doubt about the reality of the crime.” Some in the public believed all of this could be a hoax perpetrated by the reality star.

In order to bring the case to a swift and successful conclusion, the investigation is being handled by La Brigade de Répression du Banditisme, or ‘B.R.B’ (insert joke here), an elite division of 100 or so plain-clothes police officers who specialize in armed robbery.

“…there is a professional team that committed this crime, and they seem to be organized,” says Sainte. “That’s why the B.R.B. is on the case. [They have] experience with people who attack with arms, and a big part of the brigade is now working on the Kim Kardashian case.

The chief was tight lipped when it came to details of the case, or whether there were any suspects or arrests as of yet – which is to be expected, as the investigation is ongoing.

But when asked about the B.R.B.’s odds of solving the crime, he replied, “I’m very confident,” and stressed the importance of a successful outcome:

“It’s important because of the implication: Is Paris secure? It’s important economically. So that’s another reason why it is important for us to solve this case.”

For her part. Kim Kardashian has been a recluse since the incident, spending nearly all her time home with North and Saint. According to a source, she “is still having a difficult time, “ and, “has zero desire to resume her old life.”
