People Who Hit Snooze Are Smarter Than Those Who Don't

Whether it’s your mother, your cell, or an old school alarm clock, getting woken up for anything is annoying as hell. But we often do one of two things; get up with much regret or ignore the nuisance and continue to dream of dream vacations and hookups. While some may assume those who wake up ready for the day are better than those who decide slumber is way more important than getting anywhere on time, those people are totally wrong. In fact those of us who love to sleep until our bodies are okay with leaving the bed. We’re smarter the the early risers, among other things.

Back in 2009 there was a study published all about this total breakthrough that proves the so called slackers who sleep in are better than those who don’t. “Why Night Owls Are More Intelligent” said what we just did with science backing them up. Their thoughts are that waking up naturally is just something we’ve learned via evolution, and that the idea of the snooze button goes against that and our body’s natural need for sleep. So when sleepyheads ignore their wake-up call, they are showcasing more power over what’s necessary for their in terms of a good night’s rest.

So...hell yeah? Let’s hear it for those who not about that alarm clock life. They are smarter, and according this study, more likely to follow their dreams, take on their own problems which the those behind this study say makes for more creative and independent people. Which now kind of makes sense when compared to those into the arts. Musicians, artists, writers - most of the time aren’t getting up at the crack of dawn like clockwork to head into work. Instead they are rolling out of bed later in the day to achieve their career goals in much more creative ways. “Why Night Owls Are More Intelligent” was definitely onto something back then, and we are believing every word...especially since we’ve been known to hit snooze more often than not.

Now when someone calls you lazy for sleeping past your alarm, tell them intelligent folks like yourself don’t have to rise when the sun does.
