Pickle Juice Soda Exists And It's Kind Of A Big Dill
The latest viral food fad has us wondering if science has truly gone too far.
Presenting: PICKLE JUICE SODA. Yes, really.
According to Mashable, the drink hails from Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania; you can buy it online here, though it's been sold out for a while.
Based on the store's description of the flavor, it sounds like *quite* the culinary experience.
"Your brain prepares you for the taste of pickle juice (like right from the jar)," the shop wrote in an email. "It smells just like dill pickle juice as you might imagine. The taste is spot-on. While the flavor isn't overwhelming, it's sweet and would definitely satisfy that pickle craving."
Of course, Twitter has mixed feelings about this concept.
As weird as it sounds, Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop might be onto something here. Consider the humble Tijuana Hooker, a problematically named drink involving a shot of tequila and pickle juice. You don't think it'll be good, but it actually IS, which makes us wonder whether MORE things should be pickle-fied.
You know, maybe science hasn't gone far ENOUGH. Maybe pickle juice soda is a vision of what's to come. Maybe pickle-y drinks are about to go mainstream. Maybe Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, who once chugged a jar of pickle juice on TV, is a visionary and a prophet. There's no telling WHAT the pickle-licious future holds, but we're here for it.
