Protect Betty White! Man Starts GoFundMe To Defend Actress From The Year 2016

2016 has been the worst.

We can’t even list off all the celebrities that have passed this year because we’d run out of room, but some of the most notable are Prince, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Gene Wilder and, in the final days of December, Carrie Fisher.

Halfway through the year, people were already getting pissed off at 2016. It’s simply been too brutal on everyone’s favorite celebrities.

So now, in the final days of the year, one man is trying to do something about it. One man has selflessly volunteered to protect one America’s national treasures, Betty White, from the horror that is 2016.

Demetrios Hrysikos – which is a body guard name if we’ve every heard one – set up a GoFundMe page to raise travel funds. “Help 2016 catch these hands if it goes anywhere near Betty White!,” says the page. “If she’s okay with it I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan. 1, 2017.”

Everyone’s concern for White is understandable – the woman may be a badass, but she’s also 94-years old, and 2016 has a talent for snatching celebrity lives. The internet’s worries are well-founded.

Hrysikos stated that his goal was $2000, and that number was surpassed in less than 24 hours. Now, on the off chance Betty White doesn’t want a complete stranger with a twisted sense of humor defending her from the icy intangible claws of death, Hrysikos has said he’ll instead donate any money donated to a local theater. A cause, you’ll notice, that White would probably support.
