Another horrible story about a poor baby who died locked inside a hot car...When will this stop??

DiJanelle "DJ" Fowler, 25, plead guilty to 2nd-degree murder and concealing a death after leaving her 13-month-old daughter Skylar alone in a hot car where she died. Fowler has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and 20 years of probation

Skylar's father, Louis Williams II, was there when the sentence was read. The Air Force reservist, 26, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, saying of Fowler, "She baked my daughter." Yet, he seemed stunned this could even happen because, "Up until that, DJ was a great mom."

“I’m not here to seek revenge,” Judge Linda Hunter said, looking toward Williams. “A judge’s job is not to send a message.”

It was a very emotional sentencing. But the crime was pretty harsh…

It happened on June 15, 2017 in Atlanta, GA. The young mother was visiting relatives and looking for work. She had a lead on a job, so she went to a local salon to have her hair done so she would look her best.

Fowler did not ask her relatives to care for Skylar, and she didn’t take the baby with her even though children are allowed inside the salon. Employees said that Fowler did not mention she had a child in her car, nor did she go out to check on her during the 5-hour styling process. She'd left the air conditioning on, she later told authorities.

TheBlackLoop.com reported, “Police said surveillance video captured Fowler as she returned to the car. Upon realizing that her battery had died, Fowler asked someone in the salon to give her a boost. Still, she reportedly gave no signs of needing help.”

Fox 5 Atlanta reported that Fowler searched on her phone for signs of seizures and allegedly texted her family that she wasn’t feeling well. After driving herself to Emory physician parking deck, Fowler was found unconscious by a passerby and baby Skylar was dead.

In court, Fowler accepted responsibility. “I will admit I made a poor decision, a decision that I cannot take back, a decision I will never make again,” she said, breaking down in tears.

"God blessed me to have a little girl after I broke my neck and was told I would never have children and that little girl became my everything. I understand the decision you have to make," Fowler told the judge.

While it seems Fowler had other options on that hot summer day in Atlanta, some folks do feel sorry for her. She won’t be out of prison until she’s 40. It is a tragedy all-around for sure.
