One of America’s most notorious criminals is now dead: Charles Manson has passed at the age of 83.

The head of the "Manson Family" was taken to the hospital recently for what turned out to be intestinal bleeding. Sources at the time said, “it’s just a matter of time.” Turns out they were right.

Authorities are currently in the process fo contacting the families of his victims.

In case your gruesome American history is a little rusty, Manson was responsible for one of the most notorious murder sprees in United States history back in 1969. Himself and a number of cult followers killed 9 people in July and August of that year. One of those attacks was on then-famous actress Sharon Tate and four of her guests; the LaBianca couple was killed the next day.

Those attacks were carried out on Manson’s orders, following his self-named philosophy of "Helter Skelter"(yes, pulled from The Beatles song) which was intended to start an apocalyptic race war.

Manson was convicted of those crimes and two other slayings in 1971 and sentenced to death, but California repealed the death penalty the following year, meaning Manson lived the rest of his life out in prison.

Since then, Manson’s achieved a measure of celebrity, having done several interviews and achieved a cult status in certain circles.

But seriously, good riddance.
