Siblings Save $45K To Pay Off Hardworking Mom's Mortgage In Full!
Maybe you got your mom slippers for Christmas and a $100 gift card. And she was very happy we're sure.
So imagine how ecstatic this mom was!!! Shiellan Embaye and her brothers Bahran and Sewra decided to pool their resources to pay off the mortgage on their mother’s house! This is one of those stories that reminds us all what family is truly about.

Shiellan said of her mom, Nigisti Asgedom, “She’s mortgaged her whole life to help us so it’s just paying back. I love her dearly. Hopefully this gesture will show how much I love her. This is the greatest money I’ve ever spent.”
The ultimate present was given on Christmas Day in Sugar Land, TX., and of course: caught on camera. During the emotional video, which went viral, Nigisti is completely speechless but manages to utter the words “Thank you” under her breath as she can be seen taking it all in. She added, “I am very fortunate and lucky” and is so overwhelmed, she buries her head in her hands in astonishment.
In the video her son Bahran says to her, “We know how hard you work to pay for this house so me, Shiellan and Sewra, we wrote a check for $45,000 to pay for this house so you don’t have to work your second job,” as his grateful mom can be seen breaking down.
Bahran captioned the video: “If you know my mom you know she deserves the world, when shes delt a bad hand she takes it in stride and thanks god…for christmas me my brother and sister decided to pay the remaining balance on our childhood home that she works 2 jobs, 12 hrs a day to pay for just to pass down to us…now she can enjoy being a grandma, and relax….i swear thats not my voice cracking…Merry Christmas all…”
It wasn’t a simple gift to give. Shiellan emptied her savings, had to sell her own home in Rosenberg, while her two brothers pitched in the rest. “She’s had a pretty hard life and she’s been through a lot,” Shiellan said. “As soon as I made that decision, it was tunnel vision until December” to make it happen.
Lots of sacrifices, but it was worth it. The Windmill Street home is where the siblings grew up, and where their mother gave them all their cherished childhood memories. “Every birthday, every Christmas, every holiday was in this house,” Bahran said. “I had sleepovers here…you know, everything like that, it was home.”
Shiellan said her mother, who bought the home when she was pregnant with her, has worked two jobs to try and pay for the house. But she won’t have to worry about that anymore. Now it’s mom’s home forever, paid in full.
It’s great to see families like this, all pulling together to help one another and lift each other up. We need more examples like the one Shiellan and her brothers Bahran and Sewra have set! #FamilyForever
