Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write: Snapchat just entered the world of fashion.

The social media platform made two major announcements in recent days. First, they’re changing their name to simply Snap Inc. Which, when you do the math, saves them one whole letter.

Way more exciting is the company’s announcement that they’ll be selling their own brand of smart glasses, dubbed ‘Spectacles’, that can film first-person video clips and upload to ‘Snap Inc.’ directly.

In a release, the company claims, “We’ve created one of the smallest wireless video cameras in the world, capable of taking a day’s worth of snaps on a single charge, and we integrated it seamlessly into a fun pair of sunglasses.

The questionably stylish Spectacles can record up to 10 seconds of video at a time. All you have to do is tap a button on the frames, then stare. A ring of lights surrounding the camera let’s people know you’re filming them.

So what’s it cost to Snap without your phone and look silly doing it? The Spectacles will retail for about $130. They’ll initially be available in black, coral, and teal.

“We’re going to take a slow approach to rolling them out,” says CEO Evan Spiegel. “It’s about us figuring out if it first into people’s lives and seeing how they like it.”

Uh, Evan? Speaking on behalf of humans everywhere, 1) it fit’s into our lives by giving us a whole new way to take selfies and film our pets, and 2) of course we’ll love it.

But the party hasn’t arrived just yet. The website only says the Spectacles are coming ‘soon’, and Speigel chimed in that you won’t be able to get your glasses until this fall.

Until then, you’ll have to send videos of yourself vomiting rainbows the old fashioned way.
