Students Walked Out Of Their Own Graduation To Protest Mike Pence & We're So Here For It
Vice President Mike Pence spoke at Notre Dame's graduation ceremony on Sunday and the audience clearly did not like it.
Dozens of students marched out of their own graduation to protest Mike Pence and his not-so-friendly policies. See for yourself:
We've gotta admit, these students give us hope for a better tomorrow. Despite the fact that they're graduating from a catholic school, they were not about to sit there and listen to Pence's hateful, privileged agenda!
Video footage showed a large group of students getting up the moment Pence took the stage, then exiting the ceremony as soon as he opened his mouth. The students eventually gathered in a nearby park to hold an alternative "graduation ceremony." It's actually quite sweet:
"His anti-LGBT, anti-refugee, and anti-health care policies have harmed people in ways for which no religious justification can be made," said protester Liz Hynes. You better say that, Liz!
While we applaud their fearless sacrifice, graduation is supposed to be a big moment for students and their loved ones, so we can understand why some students wanted to stay.
Would you walk out of your own graduation just because you didn't like the speaker? Weigh in!
