Swimsuit Accessories: Things You Can Do to Enhance Your Silhouette

Are you one of the millions of women who freaks out every time the summer season rolls around? Or more specifically, every time you have to go swimsuit shopping? You shouldn’t. Especially if it’s because you’re letting the fashion magazines and blogs intimidate you. Number one, you are not a model; you are a “in real life” woman. And secondly, you’d be amazed the magic that photo filters can do these days!

All this to say, no matter what size you are, you can look still look pretty amazing in a swimsuit. The key is to first get one that’s specifically designed for your body type (read more about that here). Next is to look for pieces that will help to enhance your natural silhouette and/or accessorize some of your favorite body parts.

Not sure how to do that? We’ve got a few ideas…

1. A cover-up

No matter what your body type may be, you need a cover-up. It helps to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. It also looks super cute when you plan to sit poolside or you want to cover up when you get out of the water. There is no reason a woman can’t feel confident in a suit when she has an adorable-yet-sheer cover-up on.

2. A sarong

If your bottom half is more ample than you want to show or your thighs are not as toned as you’d like, no one has to know that if you have a sarong on. Depending on the size of the fabric, you can tie it around your neck and let it flow in the wind or you can tie it around your waist and make it your own lil’ wrap skirt. It’s sexy either way.

3. A body chain

We won’t lie. We really do love body chains. They are the perfect jewelry accessory for swimsuits. You might think that these are best for those who are on the thinner side or have more of an athletic build, but we disagree. Beyonce’ is curvy and if you check out some of her music videos and photo shoots, you’ll notice that it’s often a signature part of her outfits. Yep. Get one.

4. A big floppy hat

Floppy hats are in and we couldn’t be happier! They also help to shield you from the sun, can hide your tresses on those bad hair days and if you get one that’s really stunning, it can draw attention to the upper half of your body. It’s also perfect for taking pictures while you’re on vacation. Every woman looks perfect in a big floppy hat.

5. A mesh top

Mesh tops are also trendy. They’re pretty much a variation of a cover-up. If you want to show a bit more skin, just not all of it, this will get you want you need. We like mesh a lot because it’s fashionable and seductive without being too over-the-top.

6. Footless sandals

If you’re a woman, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t own a pair of footless sandals. Just look at how beautiful the ones are in this picture! There’s something that’s so feminine and alluring about them. And, they’re so much more stylish than plastic flip-flops. Definitely a wonderful way to complete your swimsuit look!
