Taran Killam Says Trump Was A 'Moron' Who 'Struggled To Read' As SNL's Host

A lot of Saturday Night Live fans were LIVID when the show's execs asked then-presidential candidate Donald Trump to host the show in November 2015. Evidently, the cast wasn't all that happy about the invitation, either.

Former SNL star Taran Killam, who was suddenly fired from the show last August, told Brooklyn magazine that Trump was a "moron" whose hosting gig was no laughing matter.

"It was not fun, and most of the cast and writers were not excited to have him there," Killam said. "I didn’t get the feeling that he was excited to be there, and it felt like a move for ratings from both sides."

Maybe Trump was different behind the scenes, though. Were read-throughs and rehearsals a breeze? Was he easier to work with than people would expect?

On the contrary, said Killam.

"He was… everything you see," the comedian explained. "What you see is what you get with him, really. I mean, there was no big reveal."

Apparently Trump even "struggled to read at the table read," which troubled the cast, and he "didn’t get the jokes, really."

"He’s just a man who seems to be powered by bluster," Killam revealed.

Based on that review, it doesn't sound like SNL is going to give the commander in chief a break from its savage parodies anytime soon. (Better keep your Twitter fingers at the ready, Mr. President.)
