Director Ang Lee perfectly summed up Heath Ledger's mystique: "Even as a supporting actor he will steal the whole show. That's the power of Heath Ledger."

More than nine years after Ledger's tragic death, all that "power" and more will be showcased in a documentary titled I Am Heath Ledger, and the first trailer will make your heart ache.

Not only does the film feature interviews with those who knew him well — including Lee, who directed Brokeback Mountain, actress Naomi Watts, Ledger's sister, and his childhood pal — it also includes footage shot by Ledger himself. (He always had a camera in his hands, according to his friends.)

The documentary will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23, but you'll be able to catch it in a theater near you starting May 3.

Here's your first look at the brand new trailer, which dropped Tuesday — the day that would've been Ledger's 38th birthday.
