Rekindle Your Love of Life By Doing These 12 Things
We all have rough times. There are some points in our lives that we get burned out. We get tired of our jobs and get sick of the routine we do every single day. It may feel like there's nothing motivating us to get up in the morning. We feel stuck.
We can't help it. We all get in a funk sometimes. And here are some ways to snap out of it and fall back in love with your life.
1. Travel
Go ahead and travel. And do it as often as possible. You don't have to break bank and book yourself a ticket to a place on the other side of the world. The first step is getting your foot out of your apartment. You can walk around the neighborhood and actually explore it. You can drive an hour or two to a town you haven't been to before. Let the change of scenery keep you inspired and be reminded that there's so much more to life than your usual routine.
2. Meet new people
Sure, you may have the best set of friends a person could ask for, but it's always exciting to meet new people. Try to speak to at least one new person everyday. Take a few extra minutes out of each day to get to know your local barista, or the person you're sitting next to in the subway. The world is full of awesome people, you just haven't met them yet.
3. Learn something new
Learning shouldn't stop when you graduate from school. Have you always wanted to learn how to bake, speak French or maybe even do karate? There's no better time to learn how to do those things than now. Do the things you never have time to do. Pick up a useful skill and strive to be really good at it. Your later self will thank you for it.
4. Pamper yourself
Get a two-hour Thai massage, get a mani-pedi, get a haircut and color, reserve a table in a fancy restaurant and indulge in a scrumptious meal. Treat yourself! There's nothing wrong with pampering oneself every once in a while. You know you deserve it.
5. Stay active
It's time to peel yourself off the bed or the couch and get moving. Go on a hike or a run. Watch a couple of workout videos online and actually do them. Pick a sport. You can even sign up for a gym membership or a fitness class. Learn how to take care excellent care of you and work on feeling good.
6. Make room for surprises
Instead of sticking to your usual routine, why don't you try straying off it and just take things as they happen? You're used to being in control of your life and having everything planned out that you don't give your life to surprise you every now and then. Do things you're unsure of, you never know where they would take you.
7. Make time for silence
It may seem a bit odd, but having a bit of silence in your life is actually good. The world is getting louder and louder by the minute and it's important to break free from all of it even just for a little while. Set a timer for 15 minutes to actually just quiet down your thoughts, lay down and enjoy a state of silence.
8. Declutter
There's a reason why minimalism is a trend. Minimize your belongings. Make it a goal to get rid of the things you don't actually need. You'll be surprised to know that you don't need to own a lot in order to get by.
9. Give time away
Devote some time and energy on something bigger than yourself. Dedicate yourself to a cause. Sometimes the first step to self-improvement is being completely selfless. When you help others, you benefit from it too. Little acts of selflessness can ripple many other selfless acts.
10. Call an old friend
In the digital age, it's considered rare to receive a call from an old friend. So pick up the phone and call your best friend from middle school and try to reconnect. While it's exciting to meet new people, it's also great to rebuild old relationships and actually maintain it this time.
11. Make a list
Set aside some time to list down your own personal goals. Rethink and map out your short and long term plans. This will help you determine things that you need to prioritize and things you can let go of. So go and become your own life coach and make lists. Lots of them. And actually stick to them.
12. Smile
And a laugh. Often and everywhere. Smile because you're grateful with what you have. Smile because you're alive. Smiling exudes a positive energy, puts you in a good mood and can actually brighten someone else's day. Life is beautiful and there are a whole lot of things worth smiling and laughing for.
