The Most Expensive Resort In The World Gets You Your Own Island In The Bahamas
Buying your own island seems like the ultimate rich person move.
The most expensive resort in the world is the Musha Cay Island in the Bahamas. You have to rent the entire island for the length of your stay, which only costs $39,000 a day! On the bright side, you can bring up to 12 people, so then it's only $3250 per person per day. Totally doable if you win the lottery.
This immaculate resort wasn't created by a hotel mogul or property investor. David Copperfield, yeah the guy that made the Statue of Liberty disappear, bought the island for $50 million, put in another $40 million worth of renovations, and the luxury resort was born.
So what does $39,000 a night get you? Most importantly, you get a gorgeous island to yourself.
They have a staff of 30 to look after your every need and excellent chefs to create the meals of your dreams. You can have an oceanside romantic dinner. Well, it's not really oceanside, it's more like ocean-in. Like, you're literally in the surf.
They also have a gym, swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball, billiards, video games, and a little outdoor movie theater called Dave's Drive In.
The more exciting features are the Musha Olympic Games, more like a school field day than a real Olympic competition. There's also a lazer tag competition and a one-hour boat tour to show you all the places they shot the classic Bond film, Thunderball. Probably the best part is that you get to drive around the island in your own golf cart. They don't say you get more than one if you accidentally crash into a tree, though, so be careful.
Also included is all your food and drinks, including alcohol. Make sure to partake of their fine wines and champagnes. I'd be taking a bottle of Dom Perignon to bed with me every night for that price.
But the Cay isn't 100% all inclusive. You have to pay extra just to get to the island. There's no commercial line that flies directly to the there, so you either have to fly in to another island and take a 45-minute boat ride, or take a short helicopter jaunt from the airport. Either way, the resort does not cover your transportation.
If you want to go scuba diving, deep sea fishing, or get a massage, that's a little extra. You can also order a custom made fireworks show or have the resort make you a personalized treasure hunt. These extra perks cost $25,000 and $20,000 respectively and over half the people who book a trip to the Cay will add on these pricey presentations.
Now, this resort isn't just for crazy rich couples. For instance, if your job was looking for a location for it's next conference, Musha Cay has you covered. They have multiple conference centers and can easily accommodate your business needs. And, if you work for a place that would fly you to the Bahamas for a meeting, never leave that job!
The rooms themselves are very pretty, but not as spectacular as their natural surroundings.
Rooms take on a tropical theme, except for one building which houses a collection of Houdini and magic memorabilia from across the 20th century.
The real draw isn't a huge list of things they have to offer or gold covered rooms. It's an insanely beautiful location with complete privacy, where every wish is your command. You could probably ask for a pizza and a Jersey Shore season 2 marathon and 30-minutes later, it would be ready to go. It's the closest anyone will ever get to having their own personal genie.
At the end of the day, it seems like rich people just want to relax on the beach, enjoy the sun and sand, and have a staff of people around to cater to your every need. It's a simple wish we'd all like to have granted.
