The Real Reason You Sometimes Have Green Poop
Everybody poops, or that is what my favorite childhood book told me. Just as everybody poops, everybody has had green poop from time to time.
Nine times out of ten my poop is green after I down an "Ocean Water" from Sonic. This is because the drink contains blue dye. All radiant dye that falls between green and purple on the color spectrum will turn your poop green, so there is no reason to be alarmed. You are not dying of the plague.
Similarly, kale addicts also have green poop. What? I can't be a smug vegan anymore? You can just know that you will also have green poop. This is very common in frequent kale salad eaters and green juice drinkers. There is nothing to worry about. This is more of a PSA.
The only time you will really need to change your life after noticing your poop is green is if you eat a high-fat diet. A lot of doctors have said that a high-fat diet is actually beneficial to you, but too much fat can be a bad thing. So the next time you order a prime rib, maybe just eat the meat?
If your continue to have green poop after making the necessary adjustments, you should probably go see your doctor just to be safe.
But what if you are not consuming dye, a kale addict, or a fat lover? Green poop can still happen. This is just your body's way of telling you that it did not have enough time to digest your food properly. Your intestines and gallbladder were not on the same page as it started to process the bile, which is usually yellow or green, from your food. Again, there is no need to worry here unless the problem persists.
For the most part, green poop is completely normal. It usually happens once in a blue moon and can oftentimes come out in the form of diarrhea. No need to panic just let it do its thang. As Shrek always says, "There is more room out than there is in."
