These Motorcycle Helmets From Nuno Will Make You Want To Ride Out Right Now
Motorcycle riders are bad-ass, so how come helmets are so tame? We’ve always thought that motorcycle helmets should rival NHL Goalie masks in design, but we’ve yet to find any until we came across Nuno Henriques. Check out his helmets on Instagram, and you’ll want to buy a motorcycle just to wear the helmet.
We reached out to Nuno to ask him about his designs and inspiration. Nuno is an interior designer based out of Porto, Portugal and while he says his work is good, he reminds us that interior design projects can take a long time from start to finish – sometimes years. Nuno needed a creative outlet and he realized that motorcycle helmets were his canvas.
He started designing helmets because he could not find a single helmet on the market that he liked. They all looked the same, and while a motorcycle helmet is meant to save your life, it can also be a fashion statement. So Nuno set out to turn helmet design on its head.
We asked Nuno to pick his five favorite helmets and give us just a little insight into the design.
AGV Corsa
The design on the AGV Corsa helmet was an idea that Nuno had years ago but never actually tried until now. It’s a simple design but yet works well. Motorcycle riders are usually in their world, so yeah so it’s only logical to be somewhere located in the Universe.
AGV Pista GP-R
This is the first design that Nuno worked on for the new AGV Pista GP R helmet that’s set to launch later this year. The extreme simplicity of the design, bold colors and the see-through of the carbon fiber makes it a great one.
Shoei X14
The design for the Shoei X14 helmet is another incredibly simple but beautiful design. Nuno worked with a gradient of gray and geometric patterns. The design works with any motorcycle from superbikes to cafe racers.
Arai Corsair
The design on the Arai Corsair helmet asks the question – what is on a motorcycle rider’s mind? This drawing was an extremely old one of Nuno’s with a twist on a modern helmet.
AGV Pista GP-R
The concept for the AGV Pista GP R helmet here was simple – only the yellow boom on the front. Nuno believes the yellow on the helmet makes your go faster, similar to how red is perceived to make motorcycles and cars go faster.
