Toni Basil did not come to play — she came to SLAY

Seventy-two-year-old singer, dancer, and choreographer Basil has been killin' the game for decades, starting in 1982 with her hit single, "Mickey." You know the one: "Oh Mickey, you're so fine / You're so fine you blow my mind, hey Mickey!" Yeah, that's her.

The braids! The pom-pom shoes! The high kicks!

According to Buzzfeed, Basil has also choreographed dances for artists including David Bowie, the Talking Heads, Tina Turner, MC Hammer, and Bette Midler. More recently, she's founded a street dance crew called The Lockers and served as a guest judge on the hit TV show, "So You Think You Can Dance."

Basically, the gal knows her stuff — and it doesn't seem like she'll be quitting anytime soon.

In early July, Basil attended a workshop put on by French dancer, art director, and choreographer Babson Baba Sy, Buzzfeed reported. Apparently, when Baba Sy realized that Basil was in his class, he invited her to come up to the front of the class and perform a bit for the others — and OOOOOOOH did she ever!

Baba Sy said seeing the 72-year-old dance was "the biggest slap of humility" and that he was honored and grateful to watch her.

Watch Basil's improvised routine below, which has been viewed over 2.1 million times since this summer. She doesn't miss a single beat!

She spins! She twirls! She hops! She gets low! She GROOVES! If this doesn't inspire you to get up out of your seat, we don't know what will!

Basil said in an interview with Buzzfeed that her love of dancing is the reason she's so spry.

"I've always been a dancer, and I will always be a dancer," she said. "Dance has been my lover, my doctor. I know I have my health because of this."

Her workout advice, for anyone out there feeling especially unfit after watching her moves (myself included), is to find a style of dance that speaks to your body and soul and give it all you've got.

"Run to the closest dance studio, and study the style of dance of the music you love. If you love hip-hop music, go to a hip-hop class. If you love salsa, take a salsa class. It will become infectious and you’ll keep going back," Basil told Buzzfeed.
