What Kind of Parenting Is This?! Mom Let A Snake Bite Her Baby To 'Teach A Lesson' About Wildlife

What the hell kind of parenting is this? This mom decided that her one-year-old daughter needed a nature lesson, bringing the baby face to face with a snake! But this “lesson” could land this mother in jail…

Chartelle St. Laurent of Florida, grabbed a red rat snake from her yard, holding it in a plastic container. She then recorded her baby coming in contact with the snake, which then, of course, bit her when the naturally curious baby got too close! Then Chartelle had the nerve to put the incident on Facebook of all places, landing her in hot water with the State Attorney’s office!

Chartelle’s justification? Since they live in a rural area, the little girl needs to be able to handle wildlife and know what to stay away from."It had bitten me and my son and didn't leave a mark, several times," she said in an interview. "So, I thought it was a good opportunity to introduce her without actually getting hurt.” Lady, BYE. That’s just like putting a baby’s hand on a hot stove to teach him not to touch it! That’s not a lesson; that’s abuse.

The Highlands County sheriff’s office feels the same way. Exposing a baby (or any kid) to a snake on purpose violates Florida’s child abuse law. Because of that, an affidavit has been filed against Chartelle for one count of cruelty toward a child, which is a third-degree felony! It’ll be up to the State Attorney’s office if she will be charged.

Even with this potential charge, Chartelle is sticking to her guns about her decision. "People are too sensitive," she said. "They just think that I hurt my child intentionally. The people that know me know that I would never hurt my children." She claims her daughter isn’t scared of snakes now. “That was my goal,” Chartelle proudly stated. "She's not scared of snakes but she doesn't want to touch them, either. That was my goal."

Soooo this lady really couldn’t have just shared a picture of a snake with her kid, and said, “See? Snakes are bad…don’t touch?” SMH…really can’t deal with people and their crazy logic.
