This Teacher Is All Smiles After Being Accused Of Sexual Relations With A Teen

The internet became aghast when a mug shot of a high school science teacher charged with sexual assault was released as she was all smiles, posing for the camera.  

Sarah Fowlkes, 27, was arrested by police after being accused of sexual relations with her 17-year old-student. The report claimed Fowlkes had in person meetings with a student and was exchanging messages via the internet. Apparently such allegations didn’t scare Fowlkes, who is seen smiling at the camera during her mugshot, despite the possibility of spending time in jail for sexual assault.

However Fawkes' attorney, Jason Nassour, believes this to be a misunderstanding. In a statement made to NBC 5 News, Nassour claims “[Fowlkes] isn’t a guilty person sitting there like they just got caught. When everything’s fleshed out it won’t be as it appears”. Nassour also claimed there was “no corroborating evidence” provided by the student to legitimize these claims.

District Superintendent Susan Bohn also released a statement, “On behalf of the district and Board of Trustees, I want to assure parents we do not tolerate this kind of behaviour and are fully cooperating with the law enforcement and CPS”. Sarah Fowlkes will be on trial later this year.
