Teacher Starts Every Day Complimenting Special Needs Students...Makes Them Excel To Great Heights
Chris Ulmer is a special teacher who teaches special needs students. But he doesn't see them that way. He only sees possibilities not disabilities. He gets it! And that's why he starts each day with his students off in a positive way.
Based out of Florida, the young teacher has gone viral since posting a video of his classroom last week. What’s so special about Ulmer and his practice? Kindness.
He expresses the importance of paying someone a compliment. The video below shows Ulmer taking the time to pay each of his eight students a few compliments. Can you imagine if your day started so wonderfully? Or, even better, your own kids in their schools!
Ulmer runs a Facebook page for a project he and his students have been working on entitled Special Books By Special Kids. The project’s goal is to end in a published book that will help kids with special needs and their families.
Via Facebook, Ulmer explained:
“I am a special education teacher who has had the same group of students for three years. I have been collaborating with my students and their parents. We our sharing our journey with the intention of erasing social stigmas and showing the true nature of my amazing students. I run this page by myself (but the project is a collaborative effort). This includes editing videos, pictures, collecting stories and responding to messages. I also love to share stories from children with special needs across the world. Together we can make a difference.”
