Tracee Ellis Ross Wrote A Children's Book To Explain Consent To Clueless Men And It's Everything
If you're still victim-blaming and silencing those who come forward with their stories of sexual assault and harassment, then boy, oh boy, does Tracee Ellis Ross have a message for you.
The 45-year-old Black-ish star ran Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night while its host took time off to care for his son, and instead of starting the show with a cheesy monologue, Ross decided to remind viewers how prevalent sexual harassment is in women's lives.
“First of all, let's start with the fact that it isn’t a sex scandal," Ross said, referring to the recent flood of harassment allegations against powerful men. "It isn’t a Hollywood scandal. It isn’t even a scandal. It is a systemic problem about the abuse of power that takes place across all industries and has enabled a culture of inequity to persist for far too long."
Tracee ain't ever lied! But because men can't seem to comprehend what women go through on a daily basis, the actress decided to dumb it down for them.
Being the multitalented women she is, Ross wrote The Handsy Man, a children's picture book that breaks down sexual harassment for dudes in simple terms. Groundbreaking, right?
"So Handsy Man, If you’re still confused whether your behavior will be excused / I’ll say it clearly, nice and slow. If she doesn’t consent — the answer is NO," Ross read aloud to her audience.
Where can we purchase? Asking for a friend. (And by friend, I mean the entire male population. 😬)
