Wearing This Shade Of Lipstick From Estee Lauder Means You'll Be Married In One Year

You caught the bouquet at the last wedding you went to, read The Secret and did everything it told you to do to find a life partner, and Tindered, Bumbled, and Match.com'd your fingers off to no avail. You might be looking back at all of the weird dates, awkward false starts, and ex-loves feeling like your picture should be trending on twitter beneath the hashtag "foreveralone," but fear not. Word on the internet reviews street is that there's a lipstick on the market that ups your chances of marriage. Sound weird and kind of sad? So did Tinder, but we all tried that...

There's an urban legend in Japan that a certain shade of Estée Lauder is the key to getting you hitched, and it's this pretty shade of pink:

So who started the rumor that this lipstick is basically commitment-bait? There's no mention of marriage anywhere in the product description, but the comments tell a story that lets us know somewhere down the line, maybe this lipstick did have something to do with a love story or two. Exhibit A:

Lipstick that helps you find a partner

I’m around 40 and am hoping to get married. I’ve had to invest a lot in clothes and makeup.  I read that this lipstick had the highest success rate of people getting married. Of course I bought it. So now I’ve been on 6 dates with a guy I met at a party who is 17 years younger than I am.  I wonder how things will turn out with him. Hopefully I’ll have something good to report. Thank you for this great product.

6 dates with a guy 17 years younger? Ok, we're seeing some potential here! Here's Exhibit B:

It’s great

I heard this was a marriage lipstick so I decided to try it out. The first time I tried it out I happened to run into a guy I’m seeing! We had been fighting, but we were able to make up. I don’t know if this has anything to do with the lipstick, but I was certainly a little surprised lol. It would be great if my wish came true and I could get married lol.

A chance meeting, a dramatic fight, and a reconciliation. The stuff of rom com dreams and again, promising evidence from this sweet commenter.

Obviously there wouldn't be any scientific evidence that proves or disproves this fun little myth, but you know what? Who cares if it's true. Makeup that makes you feel beautiful has a distinct, soft power to inform the way you carry yourself through the world.

Maybe someone who's feeling a little down on themselves puts this on and feels confident, and talks to someone they normally wouldn't that day. Maybe someone who's been feeling socially anxious puts it on, and feels a sort of armor wrap itself around them, and their face is able to convey an openness that attracts others when it would normally come off as closed or asocial. Maybe it works like a placebo; since everyone's telling you marriage is in your future with just a dab of lipstick, it really somehow becomes true.

Who knows, and again, does it matter?
