While Her Divorce Battle Is Still 'In The Thick Of It,' Mary J Can't Seem To Get Kendu Out Of Her Purse
In the early days of her career, we connected with Mary J. Blige because her music was raw and vulnerable. Many would say that some of her best lyrics are born out of her suffering. While we cheered for Mary as she evolved over the years, most of us can't wait for the release of her highly-anticipated album, Strength of a Woman. You see, after almost 13 years of marriage to Kendu Isaacs, their very messy divorce is providing plenty of new material that is sure to be reminiscent of the music that made us die hard fans in the first place.
Since their split last July, Isaacs has been all about maintaining the lavish lifestyle that being married to a megastar afforded him. As her manager, he earned $46,205 per month and has amassed around $4.5 million in assets according to the Daily Mail.
They also report that he is now demanding $110,000 per month in spousal support (which recent court filings show as a reduction from the $130,000 per month in his previous filing), $95,000 in attorney's fees, $52,000 in forensic accounting fees, $5,000 per month to take care of HIS parents, $4,971 in child support for HIS two children, and more.
Let him tell it, Mary owes Isaac for her success. Keep in mind that the multi-platinum selling "Queen of Hip Hop Soul" had already released six studio albums by the time they got married.
But if Isaacs is such a skilled manager, then why is he struggling to find work? After all, he made Mary J. Blige who she is today, right? As you would expect, he blames her new music and her press junkets for turning people against him. But that same music is going to generate the money she needs to continue to take care of him and his entourage.
Isaacs isn't going to be Mary's husband anymore, so the perks of that lifestyle go away. By the way, bleeding a woman who was taking care of you and your entire family doesn't fare well with anybody...whether Mary sings about it or not. Can you blame anybody for not wanting to do business with this dude? Sorry, Kendu. We don't.
