Whoa! Watch Teen Fall 25 Feet From Amusement Park Ride Into Crowd Below
While many of us throw caution to the wind when boarding different rides at amusement parks, at some point we've all wondered what we would do if the ride broke, stopped, or if we fell from it. For a 14-year old girl at Six Flags Great Escape near Albany, New York, the latter two scenarios came true.
The teen was enjoying the "Sky Ride" when it stopped and she somehow slipped underneath the safety bar. She dangled some 25 feet up in the air from the car as her neck was lodged between the bar and the seat. The teen managed to get free, fall, strike a tree branch, and then be caught by a crowd that had assembled below!
The Grio reported that the ride was stopped because of reports that a passenger was in some sort of distress. No mechanical problems were found with the ride itself. "There does not appear to be any malfunction of the ride, but we have closed the attraction until a thorough review can be completed," a park official stated.
Quite the dramatic scene here, right? The young lady did not sustain any serious injuries, but Matthew Howard, Sr., 47, from Schenectady, New York, hurt his back while trying to catch her. He was treated at a local hospital and then released.
All and all, park-goers came together to help a young person avoid serious injury. It just goes to show you what can happen when humanity prevails.
