If you're squeamish, you may want to prepare yourself for this video... but seriously, why is it impossible to stop watching?

The pimple popping industry has been one of the weirder viral trends to show up in the last few years. Basically, dermatologists upload videos of pimple, zit and blackhead extractions, and then MILLIONS of people watch them.

The queen of the pimple popping world is Dr. Sandra Lee.

She's not just a dermatologist, either. She's a bonafide social influencer, with over a million followers each on her YouTube and her Instagram account.

In a conversation with the New York Post, Dr. Lee tried to explain why we're all so addicted to watching these seriously graphic vids.

“It’s part fascination, part can’t look away, not unlike watching a car accident. There’s also something satisfying in the resolution, like something is being removed that shouldn’t be there and now the skin has been cleansed of an impurity... [The videos] are actually very relaxing for many people. Many say they watch my videos to help them relieve anxiety, even as a daily bedtime ritual.”

Okay, a daily bedtime ritual seems like it's a LITTLE much, but if that's what works for you, then no judgement.

But you can learn more from Dr. Sandra Lee than just proper pimple popping protocol (say that five times fast!). Dr. Lee is a badass lady doctor who busted her butt to get into one of the most competitive medical fields and worked her way to the top!

No one's perfect- we all get a pimple once in a while that seems unconquerable. Dr. Lee's advice?

"You shouldn't pop anything on your face unless it has come to a white/yellow head...If the pimple has a head, at that point it is OK to extract because the bump is very superficial to the surface of the skin and therefore the risk for permanent scarring is very minimal."

There you have it. Get popping, ladies, and be sure to check out Dr. Pimple Popper's Instagram and YouTube accounts if you're feeling up for a new bedtime ritual...
