Woman Gets Her Head Stuck in Subway Doors And This Is How Passengers Responded
Imagine being on the subway on the way to work, and getting stuck between the doors trying to get out! Ultimate commuter nightmare!
That’s what happened to one lady last week, who managed to get her head stuck between closing subway doors at a train station in the Bronx. She was rushing to get out of the subway car, but didn’t make it in time, as the door closed in on her neck.
But what’s crazier is that people seemed to walk right on by the poor woman like nothing was wrong! In a video that’s now gone viral, passengers and even a transit worker were spotted ignoring the lady.
Watch the clip below!
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority told the New York Post
that the transit worker had actually already spoken with the woman, saying that
help was on the way. Yet and still, she didn’t stop to even comfort the woman real
quick or give her any update. It didn’t look like a sense of urgency to get
this lady out of the door!
The unnamed commuter wasn’t injured, according to an MTA spokeswoman. “While this is an unfortunate incident, the passenger was able to get out safely with assistance from our train operator,” Beth DeFalco said. “Because the doors were ajar, the train was never in danger of moving.” The train operator eventually arrived with a key to open the door.
Soooo serious question. Do New York trains not have motion sensors on their doors that will keep them open if any close movement is detected? Motion sensors should’ve have been able to tell, “Hey, there’s something (or someone) in the way. Let’s open this up right quick.” Seems like that’s a lawsuit waiting to happen, or maybe it already has in the past?
Yes, this lady probably should’ve been a little quicker in getting off instead of rushing to make her stop, but anyone who’s ridden the subway before in their city has done that. To get stuck like this, though, with only a key able to get you out, is unacceptable. And, with this video going viral the way it has, this is definitely a PR nightmare for MTA right now!
