Hip hop may be the descendant of the civil rights and black power movements, but this ain’t your mama’s preferred style of protest.

Hip hop is in your face and gritty as hell. A movement used to hip people to real sh*t. And the truth is never pretty, it’s always been harsh. Hip hop’s presence was always there to remind you of the cards folks have dealt, what they choose to confront, and what they reject to see in themselves.
