and one that prophesied drug affects to come. It holds up now, some almost 10 years later, and 

Tha Carter II  was both a blessing for the public and Lil Wayne's coming out party. It branded him a certified star, and "Hustler Music" was Jay Z with a fun

Louisiana twang. The lil' guy was no longer small with the raps and the world took notice. 

"A Milli" part two saw Bangladesh return to the boards for the follow up banger. It was almost as big as the first, striking gold with a rapidly looping baseline and

Weezy's devil-may-care bars. 

500 Degreez was a way of life for the young Wayne fan, and this track stood out. It sampled "Don't Look Any Further" by Dennis Edwards, which was notable because

that song was also sampled by Tupac for "Hit 'Em Up." 

Smooth as a baby's bottom, "Comfortable" was the rare Lil Wayne relationship pull. It was not extravagant, showing considerable restraint for an artist hell bent on maximalism. Instead, it's restraint

elevated it from mere pop crossover to a syrupy confection everyone could get behind. 

People don't usually look to I Am Not A Human Being II as Weezy's best. But if they did that they'd miss out on this nearly perfect pop-rap hit. Every party, every

radio station, every woman moving knew this song was fantastic. And while it took his die hard's a few minutes to catch up, this one is an undeniable hit. 

Both Wayne and T-Pain were at the top of their games for this song about a caper dripping in auto-tune. It was delicious at the time for it's almost gratuitous

use of the voice synthesizer on both Wayne and the man who defined that section of the aughts. 

Arguably the biggest hit Wayne has ever had, "A Milli" set the whole world on fire. Bangladesh laced the beat, a disturbingly simple loop that was ubiquitous at the time.

Wayne rapped on the down beat, resulting in one of the freshest flows of his career. It peaked at number six on the Billboard 100 charts, and launched a

million copycat beats that we're still feeling the effects of to this day. 

"I got my gun in my boot purse / And I don't shoot back because I shoot first," is one of the hottest lines in a chorus of all-time. And

as this is the beginning of the unstoppable Wayne-Drake matrix, it's only right that it should be at the top of our chart. Listen to the song again. If you
