Gallery: 10 Things You Probably Don't Know About the Legendary Rosa Parks
On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks boarded bus 2857 after a long day at work. Then, she was as an assistant tailor at a local department store in Montgomery, Alabama. We can imagine how, after a grueling day of being a seamstress, like other commuters, she just wanted to sit down and take a load off on her way home.
But back then, that wasn't how things worked. She was told to get up and give her seat to a white man. She refused and was arrested. The rest is history. She started a movement that led to a bus boycott...and the ultimate reversal of Black folks having to give up their seats when they paid their money just the same as others to ride the bus. #Iconic
